Job Description Summary
              Â
Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide oversight of the plant wastewater treatment systems and land application of byproducts (rock/dirt/silt mud) per company policy, Federal, State or Local regulatory requirements. Supervise operators of the wastewater and solids management systems to include cattle feed slurry. Interface occasionally with contracted farmers that operate land application sites. Manage and maintain data to ensure proper, effective, and efficient system operations and to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. Build and provide processes, training, and implementation support to assist facility personnel in managing legal/regulatory obligations and Lamb Weston environmental program requirements.Job Description
- Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of the process wastewater treatment system.
- Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of slurry cattle byproduct stream.
- Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations related to land application of byproducts (rock/dirt/silt mud).
- Responsible for understanding all wastewater permit regulations and guidelines for operation.
- Safely works with chemicals in the wastewater system to make required adjustments.
- Guide safety performance of wastewater treatment team, grounds maintenance crew, and department CDL drivers.
- Responsible for identification of potential issues and notification with plant management concerning issues or deviations from normal operations.
- Supervise department staff and manage scheduling needs.
- Coordination/scheduling of sample collection and data analysis at internal and/or third-party laboratories.
- Analytical data management and QA/QC review.
- Plan and schedule regular preventative maintenance activities as well as facility outage maintenance activities for the water/wastewater systems using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to always ensure full system functionality.
- Manage departments maintenance budget including development of department budget line items.
- Manage wastewater chemical & supplies budget.
- Responsible for outside grounds including doors, garbage receptacles, spill response and pond maintenance
- Managing of direct reports in waste treatment areas
- Work with environmental manager as necessary to complete/review compliance reports.
- Utilize EHS management information software (MIS) to track and document related compliance task completion.
- Coordination/scheduling with subcontractors & cattle feed haulers to meet downtime department maintenance service/needs.
- Participate in sustainable development (SD) activities to support waste reduction efforts.
- Participate and help coordinate input into SD metric tracking system.
- Support environmental program management.
- Assist the plant environmental manager as necessary.
- Participate in capital planning process to ensure department needs are addressed in a timely manner.
- Implement continuous improvement activities to optimize system performance and reduce overall operational costs.
- Participate in the development, training and coaching of veLOCity Standards and Systems.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Technical Qualifications:
- Associates degree in water/wastewater treatment or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biology, or chemistry (preferred).
- 2-5 + years progressive experience in the wastewater field.
- Must have commanding knowledge and experience related to biological treatment systems (anaerobic) as well as primary and secondary treatment processes.
- Must have knowledge and experience in basic laboratory methods and practices including sample handling and QA/QC review and evaluation.
- Ability to interpret lab results, identify gaps, and develop action plans for system corrections.
- Ability to troubleshoot wastewater treatment processes required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Class III wastewater operator license in Idaho.
- Good leadership skills required.
- Good presentation skills preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply math skills to manage daily operations of systems and complete compliance reports.
- Strong English skills required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Strong computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SAP, etc.) capabilities required.

Equipment Operation:
Knowledge of operational practices for wastewater treatment systems. Must learn and understand lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures for all equipment in work area. Receive and maintain full face and supplied air respirator certifications through Lamb Weston to perform confined space work, as necessary. Must receive and maintain Forklift and Front Loader licenses through Lamb Weston.  Must understand safe operating procedures, chemical safety, and spill prevention practices. Must learn and understand environmental permit conditions and what is necessary to demonstrate compliance with each condition.  Provide expertise & training to plant operators to successfully manage and operate equipment and consistently meet permit requirements. Â
Physical Demands:
Ability to work in office environment, manufacturing operations and with environmental control systems. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to move up and down stairs throughout the shift. May be required to work off-shift and/or during facility outage periods. Must be able to perform work in confined spaces with a supplied air respirator.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $61,320.00 - $91,990.00              Â
