As the Maintenance Planner, you'll work under the direction of a Maintenance Supervisor, Reliability Specialist, and Maintenance Manager to plan maintenance and repair work for the maintenance department. About The Role
- Location: Taber, Alberta
- Full-time, Hourly
- Schedule: 8-hour shift schedule rotation Monday to Friday (07:00-15:00). Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays on occasion.
- Reports to: Maintenance Team Leader
- Base Wage: CAD $33.56/hour (with opportunity for advancement)
As the Maintenance Planner, you'll...
- Always maintain/promote safe work practices.Â
- Have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including lock-out and tag-out procedures.
- Understand and follow all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Work closely with maintenance team leaders to coordinate and schedule the preventative maintenance program and maintain the maintenance work order system.
- Determine the labor and material requirements for work requests and initiate steps necessary to procure needed material.
- Review completed work orders for proper documentation and feedback on changes, revisions, or suggestions and control work orders to document regulated checking of equipment before closure.
- Develop a list of parts needed to support the long-range plans for scheduled plant shutdowns.
- Be responsible for corrective maintenance backlogs and standard job plans.
- Monitor “Kitting� process and inventory to ensure that jobs are scheduled, executed, and closed out within a timely manner.
- Develop/enhance current job plans to be in a Preventative Maintenance Optimization (PMO) format, with actionable and accountable tasks.
- Work closely with the Line Structure Team and Team Leader Maintenance to properly prioritize planned work that attacks and eliminates deficiencies in a manner that safely improves and sustains equipment reliability to maximize plant efficiencies and production.
- Assist in the creation of work orders, preventive and corrective, for regular downtime, capital downtime, One Shots, and Capital Projects.
- Develop reports that will be used by the maintenance team leaders to ensure resources are properly utilized.
- Serve as the key communicator for your area of responsibility.
- Ensure workforce effectiveness by eliminating the potential for conflicts, and delays and by setting expectations for safety, quality, and craftsmanship.
- Coach constructively & provide positive and motivating feedback to your team members.
- Communicate with mechanics, operators, sanitation leaders and supervisors to keep abreast of downtime maintenance activities & to keep abreast of production activities.
- Maintain sanitation work orders by notifying supervisors and sanitation leaders when repair work in the production area is completed and ensure proper sanitation work orders are generated.
- Ensure proper paperwork is being completed.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with a Computer Maintenance Management System (CCMS).Â
- Maintenance planner experience.Â
- PC skills and basic knowledge of database management.
- 1-3 years of experience as a maintenance planner is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Â
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Â
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, management, supervisor and fellow co-workers in organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and mathematics required to calculate interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CLASSIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must obtain and maintain company-provided certification as a lift truck operator.
- Must obtain and maintain company-provided certification as a man lift operator.
- Must obtain and maintain company-provided certification for confined space.
