Job Description Summary

The Prep Maintenance 3 position supports plant operations by repairing and maintaining all equipment plant wide and for performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel, while working under limited supervision.Job Description
- Perform regular assigned checks.
- Keep logs up to date.
- Equipment repair, overhaul and trouble shooting.
- Proper start-up and shut-down of plant equipment.
- Training of other mechanical or production personnel.
- Follow safety procedures for all work performed and instructing others in safe working habits.
- Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- May be required to work any shift, any and all days of the week, or overtime in accordance with production and maintenance schedules and applicable seniority rules.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Certifications:Â Â
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
2 year degree in maintenance related area; or equivalent combination of education and experienceÂ
Lock-out/Tag-out and forklift certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements. Â
Skills and Experience:Â Â
- Ability to weld, chip, grind and use all power tools safely at different heights on scaffolds, ladders and safety cages.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsÂ
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphsÂ
- Voltmeter/electrical diagnosingÂ
- Safe hand and power tool useÂ
- Welding and fabricationÂ
- Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. Â
- Effectively communicate with contractors Â
- Thorough working knowledge of single and three phase electrical.
- Thorough working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Proficient at welding mild steel.
- Thorough knowledge of basic mechanical skills (i.e. plumbing, measuring, changing bearings, etc.).

Physical Environment/Demands:Â
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently  Â
Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperatureÂ
Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 12 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergiesÂ
Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and proceduresÂ
Must be able to work with hands an arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipmentÂ
Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipmentÂ
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusÂ
Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant operationsÂ
Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basisÂ

Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s work location, job duties, experience and expertise.
