Job Description Summary

               

The inside receiving operator operates and adjusts all inside receiving equipment for smooth and productive operations; monitors product sizing, lineflow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs, and makes line changes as directed by the production lead or supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned):

• Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.

• Responsible for proper handling of raw product throughout the receiving area.

• Inventories volumes of raw product.

• Operates equipment and makes adjustments as needed.

• Maintains even lineflow.

• Monitors and maintains product quality and attributes.

• Communicates with other personnel:  line status, quality, and other problems.

• Must understand function and hazards of various cleaning chemicals, and must be able to perform various product testing procedures.

• Must be able to work independently.

• Shoveling product spills.

• Completes production forms as required.

• Enters information into the computer and utilizes process control equipment to control product flow.

• Monitor in-line magnets.

• Maintains water quality by cleaning strainers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Sanitation of area.
• Breaking of other areas.
• Performs weekend cleanup as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge of plant operations and experience working around equipment is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

• Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Tools and equipment used are as follows:  high pressure hoses, shovels, squeegee, hammer, and hazardous chemicals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Most job functions are performed inside the receiving area.  Constantly working on wet, slippery floors.  At times, the temperature will rise to 100 degrees or over, high humidity, and lots of equipment vibration and noise.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $25.06
