Job Description Summary

               

The Chemigation Technician Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the safe and precise application of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers. Handling, delivering and mixing chemicals. As well as the maintenance and oversight of all fertilizer equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.
  • Chemigation: Expertly mix and apply water run pesticides while adhering to established protocols.
  • Fertigation: Precisely administer water run liquid fertilizer, ensuring accurate distribution and application rates.
  • In-Furrow: Skillfully prepare and apply fertilizer and/or pesticides directly into furrows during planting or cultivation.
  • Spraying: Mix and apply fertilizers and/or pesticides with precision in designated areas, including roadsides and buildings, utilizing various equipment such as backpack sprayers and road sprayers.
  • Calibration: Meticulously calibrate fertilizer and pesticide delivery systems, including those on planters, for seed treatment applications, and in-furrow pesticide applications, guaranteeing consistent and accurate application rates.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Skillfully maintain and repair all chemigation equipment, and undertake fabrication or installation of new equipment when necessary.
  • Housekeeping: Uphold a clean and organized environment in various work areas, including vehicles, the shop area, chemical storage area, containment areas, airstrips, and compost tea area.
  • Pesticide Delivery: Securely transport and deliver pesticides to designated locations such as airstrips, ground rigs, customers, and other specified destinations.
  • Cross Training: Engage in cross-training activities to acquire proficiency in related positions.
  • Fumigation Oversight: Supervise the receipt of products from inventory in the chemical storage area, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring proper handling of chemicals.
  • Safety and Compliance: Actively participate in Company Safety and Good Agricultural Practice Programs to ensure a secure and compliant work environment.

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to an outdoor environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature and all weather elements.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor farming environments during the workday, including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, odors, and allergens. 
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders to access equipment.

  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred) 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Skills and Experience:  

  • A Washington State Commercial Pesticide License, with all categories pertaining to the agricultural business preferred or private applicator license. 

  • Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role is listed below.
